My Life Form Studies are loosely based on diatoms, a type of unicellular life.  The forms are meant to impart the essence of life as well as subtle movement.  Several years ago in Japan, I was introduced to building complex forms by transforming sheets of paper through origami.  I began playing with scale and color by making Kusudama balls.  I find the structure of the symmetry interesting, but limiting.  The subtle asymmetry of these studies, in tension with the structure of the tile, coupled with the talisman like candy quality of the glass, make these gems breathe with life.
